The more I got it, the stronger I am!

The lack of trust and state of intimacy among people in the rural areas, due partly to the civil war, hinders the set-up of self-help groups or any kind of association in Cambodia. For example, my village (my homeland, Chong Beung Knong) is said to consist of various people (Pro Chea Chun Tmey) from different original birthplace after Pol Pot regime. Noticely, we rarely found the local people joining Ton Tin groups. It is such a kind of individualistic social structure which undermine the rural collective power. This problem leads to the disruption of agricultural and financial or even community development in Cambodia. If someone can study more clearly about this social structure of intimacy and relationship for the whole country, it will help a lot!

Now m asking myself whether all MFIs should start from NGO-based or profited-oriented based institutions in order to sustain. Many MFIs start from NGO-based institutions in Cambodia and they are successful in seeking for funds from the international organizations. As pointed by the life cycle of a firm, MFIs will gain their momentum by getting profits and later might seek loans from the commercial banks to expand their capital. But is the transaction cost of MFIs starting with funds from the international organization the same as those which get funds from the profit-seeking investors?  Can anyone answer this?

Ton Tin is a famous and traditional way of saving group not only in Cambodia. But how to secure it is a serious matter since, according to the news, the treasurer always run away with lots of money. Personally, one way to secure the transaction is that all members should agree to open a joint account and deposit money in the banks. It should be a current account which they can flexibly widraw the money. At least, three members have to sign so that money can be widrawn. But now m thinking of the negative results of doing that? Can anyone give comments?
